Group Details

Course Overview

Participants will learn the skills for volunteering or working in a community organisation.

Units will cover a skill set based on engaging in volunteering. This will include:

  • First Aid
  • Team work and WH&S
  • Communication Skills including confidentiality and ethical issues
  • A placement for work experience
  • Choosing a volunteer role to suit you or Pathway to further training or employment
  • Completion of sector requirements eg. WWC Check and CR Check

Potential volunteering pathways at PSFaNS and other local services:

  • Reception – Phones, Office administration & record keeping
  • ERF – Emergency financial relief worker, communicating, interviewing and assisting client needs
  • Youth Group work, Food preparation, cooking activities, gardening
  • Childcare & Children’s Groups Working with children in groups, food preparation, maintaining the space
  • Transport Transporting to programs or appointments, car cleaning
  • Fundraising / grant writing – Developing fund raising opportunities, searching for grants, contributing to funding applications
  • Grounds – Contributing to & maintaining the gardens & lawns and outdoor areas, attending to service pets
  • Emergency Services – Emergency response roles through organisations such as the SES and Rural Fire Service
